Author and Columnist Mike Hallowell shows his support

28th Sep 2007

Mike Hallowell, an author and columnist who resides within the Boldon Community, has taken time to create a web page detailing his reasons as to why he believes Boldon C of E Primary should play as big a part in the future of our community as it has in its history.

Heritage, Practicality and Faith

Mike, who has lived in Boldon for twenty-five years, has put his fabulous English skills to work in creating a page that reasons why he believes closing the school would be an irreversible mistake that would cause untold damage our community.

He says "... we can't bleat on to our kids about respecting the environment an our cultural heritage if we keep on destroying it. Boldon C of E School is a much-loved institution that has served our community well, and we simply can't allow it to be taken away.

"...Boldon C of E School is close to home for many villagers. It is an ideal location and no alternative is going to satisfy. The logistical problems that parents will face if the school closes are disturbing

"...The Government claims to value the concept of Faith Schools. Yet here we have the only one in the vicinity under threat of being removed."

I think the government are mad this sounds like such a wonderful school. My heart and prayers go out to the pupils, teachers and parents who are involved in this school. Keep up the fught you have plenty of support!
