Campaign update

11th Oct 2007

Its been a busy week on the campaign front. Up until last week we were purely working on an operational level, with parents and supporters arranging the next step to keep us in the public eye, but the group has now split with a strategy group being formed to lead on the creation of our response to the TOPS report.

A strategy group has been formed to focus mainly creating a report to present to council with all the reasons as why Boldon C of E should remain open.

The new banners were erected at the school with the children placing their paper hand prints around the "Hands Off Our School" banner. There are 4 banners in total, 3 at the school and one outside the Wheatsheaf public house, special thanks go to Les Johnson and the Wheatsheaf for giving the money to buy these fantastic banners.

Also further thanks to the Wheatsheaf again, as Les has kindly organised a party for ALL the children who attend the school. This is to be held on the last day of term, 19th October, straight from school. There will be a disco, games and refreshments will be available. parents, grandparents, staff, governers and supporters of our campaign are all welcome.

A march has been planned for Monday the 22nd October so that we can present the council with our petitions. Plans are to set off from the market place at South Shields walk down King Street, up Fowler Street finishing at the Town Hall where we will be met by a cabinet representative to receive our petition. More details will follow, however if you are interested in joining us please contact Sheila Witte.

The strategy group have a meeting with the 3 ward councillors to plan our next steps with the report. If you think of any information that may be useful please contact us.

And finally a BIG thank you to EVERYONE who has helped with our campaign so far but we still have a long way to go.

I think the government are mad this sounds like such a wonderful school. My heart and prayers go out to the pupils, teachers and parents who are involved in this school. Keep up the fught you have plenty of support!
