Re-enactment of old traditions

28th Dec 2007

Members of the SOS group, along with children, and campaign supporters will head to Durham cathedral to re-enact the tradition of seeking sanctuary. Once again, the little school with the big heart, make a stand, raising the profile of our plight. A bus is organised to leave school at 10am.

History in the Making

SOS campaigners, children and supporters descended on the streets of Durham today. Continuing to make a stand, the little school with the big heart, also has a bigger voice today!

The idea was to march through the streets of durham, to the cathedral, then re-enacting an old tradition of seeking sanctuary. The church law stated that anyone who was in trouble and banged on the sanctuary knocker would be given sanctuary. Our school, children and teachers are in trouble from having the education and facilities they deserve taken away sanctuary was sort today!

Once again Banners, balloons, chanting and singing could be heard and seen today but in Durham this time. The voice of the campaign becoming louder and marked today by press and television coverage this time.

We have made 5 newspapers, on 29th December we were on Radio Newcastle every news bulletin on Friday 28th December. ITV news Friday 28th, news bulletins on GMTV and ITV local news on Saturday 29th at lunchtime and evening.

Everyone had a great day and the children took their place in history. Well done everyone! We need to keep going now and make ourselves heard even more than ever. Thank you once again for the support from everyone so far.

Remember me

Please do not disrupt the education of the youngsters of Boldon C of E Primary School. They deserve to be educated in the local primary which has served the community very well for many years. Continuity is vital in these early formative years.
